Mr. Jonathon Hourigan
4th Degree Black Belt
Chief Instructor & Examiner
Mr. Hourigan is a veteran martial artist with more than 31 years of martial arts experience.
He’s an accomplished athlete and educator with a deep commitment and passion for developing the next generation of leaders in our communities and our country.
His deep commitment to bringing the highest quality character growth and personal development education and training to our students, instructors, staff and families is a true inspiration and powerful resource for our local community! Certainly, this program isn’t just about “kicking and punching”, but rather, a powerful character development experience PROVEN to develop children’s self-confidence, self-esteem, focus, goal setting skills, sense of self worth, self defence, and leadership skills!
Mr. Hourigan is an IMPRESSIVE Martial Artist, with experience in Tae Kwon Do, Karate, Judo, Kickboxing and escrima stick defence.
Mr. Hourigan has developed HUNDREDS of HIGH QUALITY Black Belts in his accomplished teaching career.
He has been mentoring students in the Gold Coast area for more than 21 years, and has been personally responsible for developing not just hundreds of top quality Black Belts, but MANY first class instructors as well!
Along with being lifelong martial artist, Mr. Hourigan is an amazingly patient, empathetic, inspiring instructor!
His mission is to help each student reach their full potential, and to push past their perceived limitations to achieve new goals that may have previously seemed impossible!
While “physical” performance is the tool, it’s in the development of the person’s character where the TRUE value of the martial arts is observed. Anyone can learn to punch and kick, and in fact nearly anyone can “teach” you how to punch and kick, but it’s a TRUE master who can teach you how to develop your own best “self”, and Mr. Hourigan certainly is that!
Those students fortunate enough to have been mentored by Mr. Hourigan and his instructors have an advantage over virtually all their peers, in that they have a Towering Role Model to draw experience from, and guiding compass to keep them on track.
